My Hero

Somebody I look up to as my hero is my mom. There are many reasons on why I admire my mom, but these are just a few. Firstly, she always make sure I’m healthy. My mom is always the parent who schedules doctor appointments, eye appointments, and dentist appointments. Even though I don’t like going to these places because they freak me out I still go because my mom just wants to double check everything is normal and healthy. Aside from all the appointments she makes sure I drink my vitamins. My mom always tells me that vitamins are important because they make my immune system stronger, and it’s going to pay off when I’m older. So, drinking vitamins is another way my mom makes sure I’m healthy. Secondly, her delicious cooking. My mom’s cooking is the best food I have ever had. She always make the most delicious recipes of food like enchiladas, chicken casserole, sausage pasta, and sopa de albondigas (Mexican Meatball Soup). All of this dishes that my mom makes are so good that I can’t wait for dinner. Thirdly, she gives the best advice and comfort when I need it. When I’m stressed about school or nervous about something she is the person I’ll go to. Her advice just gives me comfort and makes the situation feel less stressful. Even if she just gives me a hug it means a lot to me. Lastly, her personality. My moms personality is very sweet even if she doesn’t know the person. My mom makes sure that everyone feels welcomed and loved just from the smallest things. I could go on and on about why I admire my mom because she is the best mom I could ask for. Everything she does comes from her heart. I wouldn’t trade her for any other mom. Thank for everything mom!

Word for 2023!

Instead of making a new year’s resolution, I am going to focus on one word. That word is being healthy. There are quiet a few ways on how I’m going to achieve this word. Firstly, I’m going to try and exercise three times a week. Exercising is a great way for me to keep my health at it’s best. Also, when I exercise many benefits are included. These benefits are strengthening my bones and muscles, reduce the chances of getting a disease, and helps me do more everyday activities. Secondly, I’m going to control my stress and procrastination. When I procrastinate on things like assignments for school and wait to last minute I then stress about when the due date is near. Me stressing about little things can take a bit toll on not only my mental health but my skin also. When I stress my skin it then causes me to breakout a lot. Lastly, I need to find more time for myself. Finding time for myself is important because I stop thinking about the negative things and just focus on the positive. Just doing skincare, reading a book, spending time with my friends, etc can really help me find relaxation. By the end of twenty twenty-three I hope to achieve my word by doing all this healthy habits I listed.

Rad Reading- December

For this month, I read the book We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han. Jeremiah Fisher and Belly Conklin have been inseparable for two years now. Jeremiah finally ask a very important question to Belly making her rethink her decisions. Does she truly love Jeremiah? And has she gotten over Conrad? Belly has to decide.

I recommend reading this book because at the end of the story there is a huge plot twist that you will never forget in the series. Also, every chapter is short so you won’t spend a long period of time reading one chapter. Lastly, in the second book called It’s Not Summer Without You you get Jeremiah’s perspective but in this book you get Conrad’s perspective. This add on to the story really makes you understand how Conrad feels.

My favorite character is Belly. Belly is my favorite character because she is caring to others. One quote that shows this is on page 212, “I sat down next to him and straddled the sill, facing him. ‘Let go,’ I told him. ‘I’m fine,’ he said. ‘I’ll do it.’ ‘No, you’re not fine,’ I said.” This quote proves that Belly is caring because when she saw that Conrad was bleeding from his leg she quickly went to get supplies to clean his cut no questions ask. Also, when Conrad said that he was fine and didn’t need help she didn’t listen to him and continued to help Conrad. From this it shows that Belly makes sure that if someone doesn’t feel good or needs help she will be there to assist them.

My favorite quote from the story is on page 291,”This is our start. This is the moment it becomes real. We are married. We are infinite. Me and Conrad. The first boy I ever slowed danced with, ever cried over. Ever loved.” This is the most memorable quote from the story because it really made a great ending for the last book in the series of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Belly at the end ended up with boy she loved the most even though she had tough times with Conrad in the past.
